Murton Welfare Park

Murton Welfare Park comprises 2 football fields, a cricket pitch, bowling green, allotment site and 20 acres of open parkland. A total of 9 football teams use the football facilities.

Murton Youth Centre 

Following extensive consultation with the young people, Murton Parish Council, Groundwork, Police and DCC, Murton Welfare Association have created a new youth facility in a redundant property over welfare park.

Youth sessions are run by youth workers from Groundwork and DCC, age group are 13-16 yrs.

Murton Cricket Club moved to the present site at the Welfare Park in 1934 from a ground at Fatten Pasture. Present day they run juniors teams at under 13, under 15 and under 18, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams at senior level. In recent times they have been very successful. They play in the Durham Coast League and have been First Division Champions in 1998, 2003, 2004 and 2007. This year a ladies cricket team joined Murton.
